Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on his two-day visit to Russia to visit President Vladimir Putin and hold bilateral talks over a range of issues. This will be his first visit to the nation after Ukraine’s invasion by the country. He last visited Russia in 2019 to attend an economic conclave in the Far East city of Vladivostok.
PM Modi will then leave for Austria on July 9 and 10 after wrapping up his engagements in Russia. With this, he will be the first Indian Prime Minister to visit to the European nation in 41 years after Indira Gandhi in 1983.
Prior to his departure, PM Modi said that his visits to Russia and Austria shall provide an opportunity to India to foster relations with both the countries.
The Prime Minister also looks forward to interact with the Indian diaspora residing in both the nations. Putin will also host a private dinner for PM Modi on the day of his arrival.
